State Track Meet Update…
First an apology to Paige Schurbon for neglecting to mention her finish in the high jump yesterday. She finished 12th. Congratulations Paige!

Friday Results…
The girls’ Distance Medley Relay team of Kara Swantz, Caliana Whitaker, Eastin Whisner, and Kiersten Swart ran 6 seconds faster than they have all season to finish 7th in 4:12.86!

The boys’ Distance Medley Relay team of Colin Bentley, Gabe Fairchild, Grady Olberding, and Dawson Scheil finished in 11th place.

Libby Dix threw 38-09.75 on her second attempt to earn a 3rd place finish in the Shot Put! This is a personal best for her and places her 33rd in the 2024 Iowa High School Rankings.

Stanley Krob jumped 17.11.5 in the boys’ long jump to place 23rd.

Eastin Whisner earned her place on the podium and took home a 3rd place medal in the 400 hurdles.

Lucy Wischmeyer brought home an 8th place medal in the long jump with a jump of 17-00. Elsa Appleton also competed in the long jump and placed 20th.

In the final event on Friday the 4×400 relay team of Kara Swantz, Alivia Truitt, Evelyn Moeller, and Abbie Moss competed in prelims but did not qualify for finals.

As of 1:45 pm on Friday, the Mustang girls’ track team was leading in the points with 35 through 10 events.

Golf and Track Updates…
Kaylie Kelchen punched her ticket to the Class 3A State Golf Meet with a 3rd place finish at Regionals! Kaylie posted a 3 over par 75 at Saddleback GC in Solon. She’ll compete as an individual at next week’s State meet at Pheasant Ridge GC.

State track kicked off today with several Mustang events competing. Girls shuttle hurdle prelims started off the day. Chloe Meester, Kiersten Swart, Olivia Haverback, and Elsa Appleton ran a 1:09.35 and barely missed qualifying for finals.

Next up was the girls’ 3000 m run. Claire Jensen placed 16th and Edith Dawson placed 20th in the 3000.

The boys 3200 featured Grady Olberding who finished 12th overall.

Caliana Whitaker ran a personal best in the 200 m prelims at 25.66 and missed qualifying for finals by .1 tenths of a second.

The girls 4×800 relay brought home a 4th place medal with a 9:37.93 time. The 4×800 was run by Evelyn Moeller, Sam Schoff, Kiersten Swart, and Eastin Whisner.

The boys 4×800 team of Dawson Scheil, Seamus O’Connor, Chasen Caskey, and Grady Olberding finished 9th with a time of 8:10.50.
This time puts them at #40 in 2024 Iowa HS Outdoor Rankings.

Meanwhile, over at the field events Jackson Kutcher placed 10th and set a new personal best with a jump of 6’ 3”.

Libby Dix earned some points and a medal with her 3rd place finish in the discus. She threw 134-09.

Sydney Maue brought home the silver in the girls’ high jump with a jump of 5-04.

Finishing out the events on Thursday for the Mustangs was the girls’ 400 m dash. Caliana Whitaker finished 7th running a 58.67. This was a personal best for Cali and also put her at #25 in the 2024 Iowa HS Outdoor Rankings.

Track will be back in action on Friday. Stay tuned for more updates!
